I'm going to assume you have a notion. For years, it may have been whispering to you. Perhaps you were in the middle of a dull Zoom call when it struck you like lightning. It's yours in any case. You still haven't begun, though. You are unable to move, not due to your laziness. Not because you lack drive but due to your fear.

I understand that fear, I once experienced it.

The Issue: Fear Pretended to Be Reason

When I first considered starting my own business, I didn't call it fear; instead, I called it "being realistic." I told myself that I needed more money, more experience, and a better plan. I also told myself that the market was too crowded, that I wasn't ready, and that if I failed, everyone would see it.

However, the truth is that fear is a master of disguise. It will put on a front of responsibility, pragmatism, and even humility. "You're being smart," it will whisper, but in reality, it's just keeping you little.

The breaking point

My breaking point wasn't a spectacular one; it wasn't a car accident epiphany or a Hollywood moment. Instead, it happened on a Tuesday as I was dozing at a spreadsheet in a meeting and realized that I couldn't recall the last time I felt alive—not joyful, not satisfied, but alive.

I typed, "What if I just tried?" in a blank Google Doc that evening.

That was the start.

The Initial Step Was Unappealing

The following day, I continued to work at my job. I didn't raise a lot of money and had no idea of what I was doing. However, I got started. I created an edgy website. I sent emails to five individuals I trusted. After listing all the things I was afraid of, I circled the one that most frightened me and carried it out first.

My Discovery:

Ø  Fear never goes away. You simply become more adept at navigating it.

Ø  Permission is not required. Not from the internet, your parents, or your boss.

Ø  Magic is momentum. Fear is killed more quickly by action than by any inspirational saying.

Ø  You'll make a mistake. And everything will be alright. Embarrassment can be endured. But regret is not.

The Company? It grew.

It didn't happen overnight or without tears, but it grew because I showed up, I persisted, and I stopped waiting to feel "ready" and instead pretended to be one. Now, I get to wake up every day and create something that is mine, something meaningful, and something that gives me life.

 Still waiting?

Let me speak with the person who has the concept and the fear.

A sign is not necessary. A perfect strategy is not necessary. All you have to do is begin. Compose the email. Give the call. Set the affair in motion. It won't be flawless, but you'll have it.

It is worth every effort.

Do you need assistance determining where to start? I have some ideas. Let's have a conversation.
